- “This is something exceptional. Here is
a disc of music by Mozart, played by a most
gifted 12-year-old (born in 1987) on Mozart's own
violin - dating from 1735 and owned by his sister
Nannerl - the very instrument he used as a child.
The fortepiano used dates from 1790 and is also
from the Mozarteum. So far as the sonatas are
concerned, we have a very authentic Mozartian
sound, and, so far as I am concerned, impressive
and convincing reading wholly in accordance with
the music. There is something profoundly musical
and artless about Maria-Elisabeth Lott's playing
and she is superbly partnered by Sontraud
Speidel, whose style and phrasing are at one with
her youthful colleague. Make no mistake, this is
very fine Mozart playing - a comment which
applies to both artists.” (International
